TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS APPLIED IN COMMUNICATION

We discussed Dr. Eric Berne's social psychology theory of Transactional Analysis in class over the last couple of lectures. Since Berne's death in 1970, the theory has evolved and is now applied widely in areas such as organisational development and education as well as the more expected fields of psychotherapy and counseling,

When I teach you the basic concepts of TA, I can make all of you subscribe to a common understanding of how our personalities work and function when we talk to each other. This enhances the process of communication manifold and helps to eliminate common misunderstandings and conflicts.

More pertinently, you can use TA to understand your own relationships and communications with others.
